Three SKY members participated in the Nordic Corrosion Congress last week. Ville Saarimaa from Top Analytica and Ali PourghasemiHanza from Åbo Akademi gave presentations, and Mervi Somervuori was a member of the Scientific Committee and chaired one session.
The congress consisted of 50 presentations in three parallel sessions, and it had over 90 participants from all over the world. The program also included laboratory visits, a welcome reception in KTH Reactor Hall and the conference dinner at Jernkontoret.
PhD student Ali described the congress as both insightful and motivating. In addition to the presentations, he enjoyed the opportunity to visit Swerim and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden laboratories during the conference, where discussions with researchers and exposure to advanced instrumentation provided new perspectives on methods that could be adapted in his own research. He also noted that the presentations were engaging and complemented well by the practical and networking aspects of the event.
Mervi and Ville also participated in the meeting of the Nordic corrosion societies, where future congresses and cooperation were discussed.
The next NCC congress will be held in 2028, either in Norway or Iceland.
